Lately though, with demanding schedules, we've been staying home or going to sleep before midnight. Taking vitamins and eating our vegetables. I'm ashamed of myself. When did I get so terribly old?
Friday night, an opportunity arose. A friend's band was playing a show in the basement of an Ethiopian restaurant. It was like stepping into a time machine to 2006. Along with many friends from those bygone days, we crammed into the tiny venue and caught up with our better selves.
I don't have the energy to live like this full-time anymore, but it's nice to pretend.
Amazingly, even really old people have fun. Your outing looks/sounds like just the ticket to turn back time.
ReplyDeleteWhen you come South, old girl, we will establish you on the front porch in a rocker, provide you with back issues of AARP magazines, soft veggies, tunes from the 60s, and lite beer. So fine! Welcome to our world! Behave yourself and we'll tell you where all of the "nice" restrooms are in the French Quarter. Big hug.
ReplyDeleteVery funny. I look forward to that porch.
