Busy weekend!

It's been a typical activity-filled weekend wherein we tried to absorb the last bits of sunshine and nice weather before winter moves in. We didn't get much of a summer here in Portland, which is why I had to outsource to California twice.

Friday night, we attended a surprise party for Pat. He seemed a bit perplexed as to what all these people were doing in his house. Had a nice low-key time hanging out.

Saturday I had brunch with Tara at The Blue Pig, where I have been reluctant to show my face since we went there with a certain houseguest who decided the best way to get a refill on his orange juice was to wave a fan of money around. Embarrassing! Good scramble, though, followed by an epic hair appointment with Tara. I just sit in the chair and let her go to town. This time she put super vibrant red highlights in it, and I am pleased. No decent photos yet though.

Headed over to Melissa's fancy wine and cheese party, where I ended up chatting on the porch with Maria for a good long while.

Sunday was our end of summer BBQ, which was sparsely attended due to rain. Bobby rigged up a tent so he could grill comfortably,  and more guests finally turned up. We ate lots of food and played a few rounds of Taboo, which my team won by more than double. Writers are good at that game.

Now I'm back on the bus, which is crowded with PSU students returning for the fall. Erica and PJ arrive later this week from Sweden via Vancouver (Canada, not Washington). It'll be fun to practice my limited Swedish some more, and also excellent to see them. Lucky for them, the forecast claims it'll be in the mid 70s and sunny all week. Yay!

  1. An almost tranquil time in preparation for yet more company. Hooray for the weather being mostly cooperative.
