Return of the Santa Cruz Crew

Jeremy's in town and we are having a fine time so far. To paraphrase a 90s country tune, "I've got a good old friend here with me tonight, and I guess I'm doing alright." He was scheduled to fly in around 11:30 Monday night, but 11:30 came and went. The monitors claimed the plane was on time, so we stood around waiting patiently. I held a sign:

Bobby had the camera at the ready. Finally, he hustled through security around midnight.

We visited for a couple minutes and were on our way home.

Jeremy is one of the first people I met at UCSC, and remains one of the funnest people I know, which is why it was difficult not to stay up chattering and having fun for another hour. Needless to say, I was operating on very little sleep the next day. Once I got home from work on Tuesday, the three of us met Becka and Aaron for dinner and drinks at the Mash Tun on Alberta. 3/5 of the Windham Street Flophouse, back together again for the first time in two years.

Last night, Jeremy met me at Ground Kontrol after work, where we played many classic arcade games for a couple of hours. I defeated him at Mortal Kombat II, and he and I joined forces to beat The Simpsons game. The last time we played that one was at Neverland Ranch. True story! Back home, Jeremy made delicious stir-fry for us.

We were joined by Tara, Ross, and Lisa, and fun ensued! Look, mom, candles!

After dinner, we played several rounds of Rock Band, a little Mortal Kombat III, and some SmartyPants! Folks finally left around 12:30, and I somehow made it through today without falling asleep on my keyboard. On the agenda for tonight: karaoke at The Hutch with Becka and anybody else who wants to join us. The fun never ends when Jeremy's around!

  1. Friends like these are truly forever. Candles set the right ambience and are a sign, well, of adulthood. No youthful joy has been sacrified, however. Love you all.
