The opposite of The Mondays

I got a super nice compliment about my new hair today, so I thought I'd share a photo of Tara's awesome work before my OCD takes over and I shampoo it. This is easily my favorite color Tara's ever done. You may not be able to tell from the photo, but the overall color is mahogany, and there is a mix of copper and bright red highlights. I don't really even pay attention to what she's putting on my head anymore. I just jabber with her about various things, thumb through US Weekly, and zone out for a few hours while the color cooks. This time, I decided I was bored, so I asked her to cut some Bettie Page bangs. I haven't had them in a while, and it was time for a change. She chopped them so they're a little more textured, and I'm mighty pleased with the finished product.

Haircut and color!

I've been dyeing my hair red off and on for the last 15 years or so, for various reasons. Mostly because I feel like that's the color it's supposed to grow, rather than the dark brown hue that shows up if I don't do anything to it for a while. I did let its natural color take over in the months leading up to my wedding, lest any chemical disasters take place. Other than that, though, I've gone years with some sort of alteration either via Manic Panic, Clairol, or (now that I can pay for it) professional color. Furthermore, I can pinpoint the catalyst that started this habit:

Hair-related compliments aside, I am thrilled that a heat wave has descended upon Portland, because it meant I could sit outside at a cafe on my lunch break and read the Mercury while enjoying a delicious sandwich and not getting rained on. Can we continue this trend for a little while, please? I have woefully underutilized summer dresses. Not that summer dresses are the wisest of purchases when one lives in a rain cloud, but they're already here, so I might as well wear them.

Anyway, I've reached my narcissism quota for the day, so I'll be grilling some food and enjoying the warm weather now.

  1. Gorgeous! Tara is a hair magician, but then, she had a splendid model with whom to work.
