Cloudy weekend in Portland

Yesterday I had my hair cut and colored by Tara the hair genius. She decided to give me more blond highlights, plus a super rich copper color she just got. As usual, I just sat in the chair and let her go to town. I am pleased with the results.



Later that evening, I got all prettied up to go to Andrea's birthday party at the Yes and No. Yes, it was goth themed. The funniest part was the two bros walking by who said "Dude, we can't go in there. That's a vampire bar!" I heard this secondhand from Andrea, and laughed quite a bit. It's not like we were at Fangtasia. There was just a strong showing of black clothing and dark makeup. For the curious, my super amazing lipstick was created with NARS lip stain in Daredevil, and Urban Decay XXX Shine lip gloss in Love Junkie. Sadly I think both products have been discontinued. The eyeliner peeking out from my eyelids is Urban Decay liquid liner in Oil Slick. I love Urban Decay.



This morning, I went to see an old friend for coffee at Stumptown.



I met Emily nine (!!!!!) years ago in the quad at Porter College, when we were both in line to get our room assignments during summer school. My mom and her mom got to talking, as Southern ladies tend to do, and discovered that both Emily and I were fresh out of high school and coming to UCSC for summer school prior to our freshman (or freshperson, as UCSC called us) year. We quickly became buddies, as you can see.



She lived in Portland briefly, but doesn't anymore. That means I'll have to visit her in Austin when I get the chance.
